Marriage Madness

Scenario: The girl is struggling with a saree that she is forced to wear. She walks up clutching a tray full of cups brimming over with coffee, trips over the carpet launches the tray's contents into the lap of the prospective groom. A could be happy ever after which never will be. Now the question is, who is the villain of the piece. The saree or the carpet?

haha....i'd say those damn rituals!!!! if the guy had a sense of humor, i think they cud have still lived happily ever after :)

i love these short posts from ur end ....the last one being the HR story!!!!

PS : for some stupid reason, the way u started out with it reminded me of the scene from Roja, if u have seen the movie!!!

And i appreciate that amidst all the exam mania u are still around....its nice to see the li'l Pocahontas every time i spot it :)

humour, a commodity which seems to be lacking in the so called eligible males who participate in the great indian arranged marriage, seriously some of them are terrible, they are all so full of their worth.

this happened to a relative of mine, she was rather upset about it. the guy was supposedly a catch !!!! and yes I have seen roja, ha ha and yeah I remember the scene. the one where the sister tells him she doesn't want to marry him.

thank you, the HR post credit goes to me friend. less than a week to go, once they start in full force I have to keep everything aside, till then enjoying the blog world.

From where we see it, the concept sucks. However it still works for millions in our country with very high success rates. So lets give it the tuppence regards it does deserve.

Ouch !!
If I were the guy getting into arranged marriage, I would most definitely insist that I meet the girl in some place like a cafe where she could come in her usual clothes & be comfortable & be herself !

666: its a good enough concept if it didn't veer so much in favour of the males, they get to do too much picking and choosing, and the girls are relegated to the regressive roles.

radha: well that guy stalked off in a fury, told the gal she had a lucky escape :), I so agree, u always have to be yourself and find someone who accepts you for who you are

I don't know whether should I laugh or keep mum about the incident....to laugh for the boy and to keep mum for the poor girl who had to face the wrath. To change the things we need to revolutionize the thoughts of people about equality of genders..and this should begin in villages at first..then only it is possible that girls will get their rights properly. To happen this, education is must..it's big cycle..don't know how much time it will take..

i agree :), but these people were educated!!!, its more due to the blind adherence to certain principles which define what an ideal bride should be, I'm on the receiving end of such crap right now, if it weren't for the current snooping happening on my blog I would be tempted to record the incidents :)

Like Swati said, if he the guy had a sense of humor, it could still be a happy ending. However since he stomped away, I'd say that both the saree and the carpet are heroes, saved the girl from being with that kinda guy!

jas, thats a nice take on it :).

The sari, of course :)

And by the way, I am absolutely against arranged marriages. They are so ugh!

saree.. no doubt! ha! nice one..

suramya said...

ash: i think arranged marriages are ok, don't mind opting for one myself as long as the procedure doesn't veer too much in the favour of the guy, right now things are looking up so its not entirely to be despised.

matangi: :), I sort of think its the carpet, I have a soft spot for the saree.

both are culprits!

I totally respect your views...thanks for sharing!

To each his own, I guess :)

suramya said...

kalyan : ha ha, both must share the blame.

ash : I'm always a fence sitter :)

the villain is the stupid arranged marriage traditions that are being applied to kids our age.
